A Dying To Live Conservation Trust Project

Project Rainforest: Borneo

Help restore native rainforest habitat for orangutans and the countless species that depend upon it.

Project Introduction

Restoring Habitat. Protecting Wildlife. Creating a Future.

Borneo's rainforests support an extraordinary diversity of life, including the critically endangered Bornean orangutan. Habitat loss and fragmentation continue to place immense pressure on wildlife and the ecosystems upon which local communities depend.

Project Rainforest: Borneo will support the planting and establishment of native rainforest trees through an experienced local conservation partner. The project will be designed around appropriate native species, local knowledge, long-term maintenance and transparent reporting.

Every £5 helps fund the restoration of one native rainforest tree.

Restore

Help restore degraded rainforest using locally appropriate native tree species.

Protect

Support the recovery of habitat used by orangutans and other rainforest wildlife.

Connect

Help strengthen and reconnect fragmented areas of forest where the project design allows.

Why This Matters

Why Borneo?

A Bornean orangutan in dramatic profile facing right, with warm rim lighting against a dark background

Borneo contains some of the most biologically diverse rainforest on Earth. Its forests provide habitat for orangutans, gibbons, clouded leopards, hornbills and thousands of other species.

Restoration cannot replace the protection of existing mature rainforest. However, carefully planned native forest restoration can help recover degraded land, improve ecological connectivity and support wider landscape conservation.

Tree planting alone will not save orangutans. It is one part of a wider conservation approach that must include habitat protection, anti-poaching, and community engagement.
